Challenge

As part of their Times Square takeover, Shell wanted to create a way to encourage signups to their Nitro+ V-Power program, as well as increase the reach of the physical event beyond Times Square digitally

Mission

Create an engaging way to encourage signups & social shares amongst the bustle of the Times Square event

Solution

Nothing encourages shares like a photo, but how could we incentivise people to share the event? Ideating around this, we devised the Times Square photobooth; a chance for people to put their faces & names up amongst the celebrities and billboards of Times Square along with a personalised (moderated) message.

Working between developers, designers & AV teams, we created an automated pipeline, allowing users to take their photo, before having it sent to a booth operator for them to confirm the photo, enter their message, and have the photo also sent to them via email, as well as signing them up to the Nitro+ newsletter.

As well as leading the creative & AV hardware elements project from conception to completion, I also worked on-site to oversee the installation & smooth running of the experience.
